Introduction<\/h2>\n

\"\"In our previous post, we discovered how to read and write MongoDB data using ZappySys MongoDB Source<\/a>\u00a0and Destination<\/a>\u00a0SSIS connectors. However, it was all about connecting to the on-premises hosted version of MongoDB. In this post, we will focus on connecting specifically to the Replica Set Cluster <\/em>in\u00a0MongoDB Atlas<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(a cloud database service by MongoDB). After you complete the steps listed below, you will be able to get and push data using the same MongoDB SSIS connectors, but this time \u2014 in MongoDB Atlas. Let’s not waste our precious time and begin!<\/p>\n

Prerequisites<\/span><\/h2>\r\nBefore we perform the steps listed in this article, you will need to make sure the following prerequisites are met:\r\n
    \r\n \t
  1. SSIS<\/abbr> designer installed.\u00a0Sometimes it is referred to as BIDS<\/abbr> or SSDT<\/abbr> (download it from the Microsoft site<\/a>).<\/li>\r\n \t
  2. Basic knowledge of SSIS package\u00a0development using\u00a0Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services<\/em>.<\/li>\r\n \t
  3. Make sure\u00a0ZappySys SSIS PowerPack<\/a><\/span>\u00a0is installed (download it<\/a>, if you haven't already).<\/li>\r\n \t
  4. (Optional step<\/em>).<\/em>\u00a0Read this article<\/a>, if you are planning to deploy packages to a server and schedule their execution later.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol><\/div>\n

    MongoDB Atlas connection setup in SSIS<\/h2>\n

    In this article, we are going to demonstrate how to create the MongoDB Connection Manager, <\/em>which is used by\u00a0MongoDB ExecuteSQL Task<\/a>,\u00a0MongoDB Source,<\/a>\u00a0and MongoDB Destination<\/a>\u00a0SSIS connectors. Let’s start by following these simple steps:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. First, download and install SSIS PowerPack<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    2. Once you installed SSIS PowerPack, open Visual Studio, and create a new SSIS project with a new SSIS package.<\/li>\n
    3. Then open the created package and right-click on the Connection Managers<\/em> panel to create a new MongoDB connection. When a context menu appears, select the New Connection…<\/em> menu item:
      \n\"SSIS<\/li>\n
    4. Next, select the\u00a0ZS-MONGODB<\/em>\u00a0option from the connection manager list and click Add…<\/em> button:
      \n\"MongoDB<\/li>\n
    5. This will open the MongoDB Connection Manager<\/em> configuration window. For now, let’s leave it open, and first go to your\u00a0MongoDB Atlas account<\/a>\u00a0to get all MongoDB Atlas Cluster instance information for MongoDB Connection Manager <\/em>configuration.<\/em><\/li>\n
    6. Once you are on the MongoDB Atlas landing page, continue by selecting the cluster you want to connect to (make sure you white-list your IP first<\/a>).\u00a0After the window appears, select the\u00a0Compass<\/em>\u00a0option:\n
    7. Then proceed by simply copying and pasting the configuration information into the\u00a0MongoDB Connection Manager <\/em>we left to rest for a while. Move on by filling in your database credentials and the database you are connecting to. Also, don’t forget to enable SSL. Just patiently follow the numbers in orange circles below and you will be done faster than you think!\n
    8. Finally, press the Test Connection<\/em> button to test the connection. If the test is successful, you can move on and start performing data operations on the MongoDB collections.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
